DELAY TRAINING INFORMATION & COURSE DATES
New 4-day Training the DELAY trainers course to run 21 and 22 Apr / 5 and 6 May 2010

This 4-day course will run in Liverpool on 21st and 22nd April, and 5th and 6th May 2010. If you would like to express your interest in attending this training, please contact either Jo-Anne or Caroline at the info address in the first instance.

TRAINING FOR DELAY TRAINERS – 4 days – over 2 modules
This is split into 2 modules. The first module consists of the 2-day “RU Ready” course, to allow the group to experience the training themselves as participants.

The second 2-day module is called ‘Training It’. This trains people to deliver the 2-day “RU Ready” course and to work with its exercises and materials.

During the second module, course participants will
·         Reflect on the course’s 8 main training exercises
·         Consider the learning from these for themselves, and ways in which to deliver these most effectively
·         Practise responding to difficult or hostile questions
·         Gain skills in managing avoidance and denial in people’s responses to the need for Delay work with young people
·         Become clearer about explaining the difference between Delay and Abstinence programmes
·         Practise planning model staff training courses and sessions
·         Gain the understanding, skills and confidence to run the 2-day Delay course and any of its elements
·         Reflect on their learning in the 4 day-training and changes they will make in their practice as a result

Both the 2-day and 4-day courses are relevant for anyone offering direct support, services, education and advice to young people or for planners, strategists and commissioners, including:
