Calderdale Health Improvement Resource Centre Reducing inequalities in health in Calderdale and helping people to live healthier lives is one of the main responsibilities of the Primary Care Trust (PCT) and a key part of our organisation vision and values.
Some of our core functions include encouraging professionals/public to:
Increase physical activity levels Eat more healthily Stop smoking Take care of their sexual health Avoid substance misuse
The reason for this is that dealing with these key risk factors also contributes to the prevention of other major health problems, such as obesity, cancer, diabetes and coronary heart disease.
As a part of Provider Services within Calderdale PCT we provide resource, knowledge and information services to local health promoters. This includes information on the above core topics but we also provide materials on a far wider range of topics and issues.
We are now part of a new team of health professionals who have been brought together to improve the health of the population of Calderdale - the Health Improvement Team, and the team currently comprises:

We are here to provide all health promoters of Calderdale with a range of materials to enable them to undertake their work.
The types of resource on offer include: Reports / Books Teaching packs Videos / DVDs CD ROMs Interactive models Leaflets Laminated posters Audio visual equipment Current awareness materials
People who use the Resource centre include: GPs / Practice Managers / Nurses Public Health professionals District Nurses / Health Visitors / School Nurses Hospital Nurses / Midwives Other Hospital departments ( Occupational Health / Psychiatry / A&E etc) Nursery and Children's Centre Workers Primary & Secondary teachers Youth Workers Local Industry health workers Voluntary Groups / Community Organisations Local Authority staff (Leisure Service / Education etc) Youth Justice / Youth Offending teams Substance Misuse Service Students Lecturers Members of the Public
